About

Hello, My name is Flavy. Nice to meet you!

Let me tell you a little about us.

It all started back in 2006 when we were expecting our first son. We came on vacation to the USA and we fell in love. We had a really good time. We felt very welcome, the hospitality and the life quality we could experience in those 15 days were amazing.

As we were driving and visiting new places we would say "can you imagine if we could move here?"

Well, a year later we were moving, with a 10 month old baby, a few of our belongings - to be very specific it was all we could fit in 6 luggages, that's all!

We left behind our house, our jobs, friends and family. We had five beautiful dogs. Yes, we miss them a lot. But nothing could be more important than that little baby of ours. We wanted to give our son a better future. Give him opportunities that we didn't have. Give him the freedom to be a kid. Let him explorer the world the way it should be.

Then we arrived. Our plane landed in New York - JFK. We had an amazing flight with a sleeping baby for the entire 9 hours. We had all the immigration paperwork ready, but we couldn't help being apprehensive, butterflies in our stomach as we walked down the line to have our documents inspected by the immigration officer.

We rented a car and off to New England we went. It was a rainy, soggy day. Nevertheless we enjoyed the ride.

My husband was going to attend college in Rhode Island. On the way from New York to his college we stopped for lunch in Mystic-CT - what a lovely small town. At the restaurant they had one of those Newspaper stand and there were a few local flyers offering condos for rent.

Yup, half an hour later we were calling out a few of those real state offices to schedule a visit to some of the condos we liked best.

By the end of the next day we had rented a small, nice condo and we were starting a new chapter.

Three years later we bought our house. We welcomed a new baby boy. Now we are a family of four.

I started this blog to register our amazing journey. At that moment seemed crazy - moving overseas with a baby and no guarantees whatsoever. But we Did It!

Please, join us on this oh-so-joyous-moment of our lives as we renovate our house, raise our kids and learn DIY as we go.
